ICON Expands Early Phase Clinical Development

In November 2008, Prevalere Life Sciences Inc., a leading provider of bioanalytical and immunoassay laboratory services to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, joined forces with ICON. It operates from a 49,000 square foot facility in Whitesboro, New York. Prevalere complements ICON’s existing European-based bioanalytical lab capabilities in Manchester, England.

To further expand its Phase I capabilities, ICON acquired the assets of Qualia Clinical Services, Inc, which included a 33,000 square foot Phase I facility with a capacity of up to 100 beds in Omaha, Nebraska in May 2009. This acquisition supports ICON’s strategy of expanding Phase I capabilities in the U.S. and brings our total bed capacity there to approximately 225 beds.

Both acquisitions have given ICON Development Solutions, the ICON division that is focused on early drug development, much greater scale in the rapidly growing market for bioanalytical and immunoassay laboratory services and first-in-human studies.
